PatentSight has been co-founded by Prof. Dr. Holger Ernst and Nils Omland, two renowned experts in innovation management and patent analysis.

Prof. Dr. Holger Ernst is groupspeaker of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Group at Germany's leading business school, the Otto Beisheim School of Management. He published his dissertation on the use of patent information in strategic technology management in 1996 and has since authored and co-authored many publications in the field. His habilitation was on the success factors of new product development. Prof. Dr. Ernst has extensive consulting experience in the field of patent analysis and innovation management with both multinational companies and medium-sized 'hidden champions'.

Nils Omland is the managing partner of PatentSight. He has extensive experience in advising international companies and patent offices on patent analysis and valuation. He wrote his dissertation on the valuation of patented technology for strategic management. Prior to that, he conducted an international research project on the profit impact of patent management. Nils Omland studied business administration at leading universities in Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
